[UCL Highlights] Real Madrid Closed The Group Stage With A Smile

◼️ The white team played a game with swings against Borussia Dortmund, but won 3-2 to close the first round with a victory.

Real Madrid suffered more than expected to win the final day of the UEFA Champions League group stage. His rival, Borussia Dortmund, who played the Europa League qualification, came to overcome a disadvantage of two goals thanks to two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, the Spanish team would wake up from its lethargy and Lucas Vázquez scored the sentence ten minutes from the end.

To solve their particular crisis, the merengue team used a rival in worse situation: a German team that has not won in the league since September and that would come with three centers and two lanes. The whites took advantage of the spaces granted by the bands to make two goals in a quarter of an hour: the first of Borja Mayoral, after a lucky touch of Isco, and the second work of Cristiano Ronaldo from the front. The Portuguese thus became the first footballer who scored in all the matches of a group stage of the Champions League.

The relaxation of the early advantage, added to the third injury of Raphael Varane this season, disconnected the targets and encouraged the rival to chain arrivals. Under that scenario, the Gabonese Aubameyang made an appearance: he cut distances with a shot on the edge of the break and, after the restart, took a gift from Kagawa to tie the spoon. With the Madrid overturned in attack to recover the marker, the German plan went through long balls to the counterattack that took advantage of the speed of their attacking line.

The tickets of Ceballos and Llorente served to improve the local game, because they allowed a tactical rearrangement that would end up enclosing Borussia. Ten minutes from the end, Lucas Vázquez regained Madrid advantage thanks to a volley bitten. And although Kagawa was about to tie again, after cutting Casemiro in the front, the whole of Zidane was able to maintain the result and even to sentence him. Real Madrid did not play anything, beyond arriving with good feelings to the next league match, while Dortmund must settle for the Europa League.
